Telescopic forks are frequently used on side-loaders for "double-deep" stacking operations and allow loads to be manoeuvred easily. They have the advantage over traditional pantograph attachments of not affecting platform width while adding little weight. If a side-loader with an extra long load needs to drive up and down a hill and it has forks that can not be adjusted vertically, the load will fall of the forks with all consequences following from this fact. With the Single height shift system both forks can vertically move up and down apart from each other so that the load always stays horizontally on the forks.
