Improved Productivity at MSE-FORKS

Improved Productivity at MSE-FORKS
MSE-FORKS will be increasing its telescopic fork (KOOIREACHFORKS®) production capacity with an investment of approximately €1 million. Current machinery is no longer able to meet demand thanks to the enormous growth in sales over the past few years.

MSE-FORKS started implementing a lean manufacturing concept in 2006, but after thorough analysis it became apparent that certain cycle times could not be achieved. A year later, the decision was made to invest almost €2 million into new machinery including six deep-hole drilling machines that boosted productivity by 30%. In just five years, MSE-FORKS will have to expand once again with an additional three deep-hole drilling machines bringing the total to eight. These special-purpose machines will be installed in the course of 2012. Since April, a dual-shift system has been in place in order to meet current demand. This will remain in place for the time being.

A combination of intensive marketing campaigns, expanding importer networks and lean manufacturing has resulted in KOOI-REACHFORKS® becoming increasingly popular and more affordable. In turn, this is leading to accelerated market acceptance. Growth originates from Europe, but sales figures in the USA are shooting up thanks to increasing numbers of European forklift truck brands establishing themselves on the US market. In Europe, telescopic forks are used for double-deep storage in warehouses or for one-sided loading/unloading of lorries. In the USA, pantographs have traditionally been used for this type of handling, but are expensive, heavy and maintenance more intensive. MSE-FORKS anticipates generating a turnover of almost €10 million this year.
