The investment costs of "double-deep" racking and handling equipment are relatively low compared to other systems. In cold storage applications, where space is at a premium, "double-deep" has already generated considerable cost savings. "Double-deep" racking is the most effective storage system in situations in which stock has to be moved quickly.
The use of "double-deep" stacking increases warehouse capacity by up to 30% compared to "single-deep" warehouse operations. The fact that the telescopic forks can reach twice as far as normal forks from one side means that the racking at each side of the aisle can be doubled. Accessibility is improved compared to drive-in, mobile and narrow aisle racking which also requires specialised warehouse trucks.
